Sweet Pea Cupani

While there is a lovely story about the Original Cupani sweet pea, about a monk (Father Franciscus Cupani) and a sweet pea collected in the wild in Sicily - that “Cupani sweet pea” was the first named variety of sweet peas. In reality, the Cupani most of us grow today has a more modern history, Bred by Peter Grayson, from his patch of old fashioned sweet peas, and released in 1992. This newer variety looks vary similar to the original variety, the plants have more vigor and larger blooms than wild sweet peas.
