Prima Donna

The sweetest ballerina pink heirloom variety. While similar in color and size to Janet Scott, Prima Donna is an earlier introduction, first introduced in 1896. While she might be small in bloom size, she packs a punch in scent having just a few blooms in a bouquet, or a plant in your garden will up the sweet pea scent quota (which I find useful to pair with varities such as Kings Ransom, that have a lighter scent).

Prima Donna has the distinction of being credited as the sweet pea that all spencer varieties come from, a frilly rouge was isolated and later introduced: Countess Spencer, introduced in 1900.

Family: Grandiflora
